In a significant Week 8 NFL upset, the Detroit Lions handed the Minnesota Vikings their first loss of the season, winning 19-15. Jared Goff led a game-winning fourth-quarter drive for the Lions, improving their record to 5-2.
The Baltimore Ravens faced a double blow with injuries to both Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley during their 36-10 defeat against the Buffalo Bills. This leaves the Ravens in a precarious position with a short week ahead.
The Pittsburgh Steelers capitalized on divisional losses, taking sole possession of the AFC North lead after a decisive victory over the Cleveland Browns. Elsewhere, unusual weather conditions impacted games, notably in Tampa Bay where the Buccaneers achieved a rare win without a single completion.
Unexpected road triumphs were also a theme, with the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals securing surprising victories. The Indianapolis Colts' season continued to unravel with a substantial loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
