NFL Scores Big with New UK Broadcast Deal

According to the news, the upcoming 2025 NFL season will see a significant expansion of the league's coverage in the UK. Under a new agreement between Paramount UK, the NFL, and CBS Sports, Channel 5 will now broadcast two live NFL games every Sunday evening.

The first game will air at 6 pm on Channel 5, followed by a second game at 9 pm on the 5ACTION channel, which will be branded as 5NFL for game nights. Both broadcasts will be free-to-air for UK viewers. In addition to the weekly games, Channel 5 will also show the Super Bowl, the annual NFL London and Dublin international games, Thanksgiving Day specials, and three playoff games.

The NFL coverage on Channel 5 will be hosted by Dermot O'Leary, Sam Quek, and Osi Umenyiora. Prior to the 6 pm game, a new "NFL: Big Game Night" entertainment format developed by Hungry Bear Media will air, aiming to engage both existing and new fans. The 9 pm game on 5ACTION will be hosted by Quek and Umenyiora, with special guests joining them each week.

Gerrit Meier, the NFL's Managing Director and Head of International, described the deal as a "significant step in bringing more NFL coverage on a weekly basis to the UK than ever before." Paramount UK's Chief Content Officer, Ben Frow, added that the partnership represents a "real step forward" in growing the sport's fanbase in the UK.
