The recent passing of former NFL player Rondale Moore has brought to light criticisms regarding the support network surrounding athletes. Moore, 25, was discovered deceased on February 21st in Indiana, with authorities suspecting a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His death prompted widespread tributes from across the league.
However, Kyle Pitts, a teammate of Moore's with the Atlanta Falcons in 2024, expressed dismay that only about six to seven NFL teammates attended Moore's memorial service. Pitts questioned the sincerity of public displays of grief, contrasting them with the low turnout at the actual funeral. He emphasized the importance of identifying true allies.
Moore had a notable college career at Purdue before being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. He played three seasons with the Cardinals before being traded to the Falcons in 2024, where he suffered a season-ending injury. He later joined the Minnesota Vikings in March 2025, only to again face a season-ending injury in a preseason game.
