NFL Legends Dickerson and Simpson Reminisce on Iconic Careers

In a recent appearance on the All the Smoke Podcast, NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson reflected on his long history with fellow legendary running back OJ Simpson. The two were considered among the greatest players of their era, with Simpson being the first to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season and Dickerson holding the all-time single-season rushing record.

Dickerson recalled first meeting Simpson as a teenager in the 1970s, when the USC Trojans were playing the Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. Dickerson approached Simpson and said he was his favorite player and hoped to one day break his rushing record. Their final meeting occurred just a few months before Simpson's passing, when the two were golfing together in Las Vegas.

Dickerson also shared his thoughts on another late Hall of Famer, defensive end Reggie White, whom he described as a "beast" with long arms who played every down with a tough, no-frills style. When asked about his favorite current running backs, Dickerson named Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, and Alvin Kamara, praising their size and skill. He also emphasized the importance of the fullback position, which has become less prominent in the modern pass-heavy NFL.
