On November 9, 2025, the NFL will be honoring the late Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland with a league-wide moment of silence before all games. Kneeland tragically passed away by suicide on November 6, 2025, following a police chase earlier that night. He was just 24 years old.
The NFL sent a memo to all 32 teams on November 8, 2025, asking them to hold the moment of silence. This will be followed by public-address announcers reading a message, encouraging anyone struggling or in need of emotional support to call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which is available 24/7.
The Cowboys organization expressed "extreme sadness" over Kneeland's passing, calling him a "beloved teammate and member of our organization." The NFL also shared their condolences, saying they have been in contact with the Cowboys and offered support and counseling resources.
