On November 17, 2025, the NFL announced punishments for two players involved in incidents with the Detroit Lions during the previous week's game against the Washington Commanders.
The league fined Commanders linebacker Ale Kaho $46,371 for unnecessary roughness and "use of the helmet" in the third quarter of the November 9th game. Additionally, Washington defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was fined $28,555 for unsportsmanlike conduct and "conduct with an official" in the second quarter.
The NFL stated that the funds raised from these fines will go towards supporting former players in need and promoting the health, safety, and wellness of athletes at all levels, including youth football. While players can challenge these penalties, it is uncommon unless a game suspension is also involved.
The Detroit Lions also saw their own player, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, receive a $12,172 fine for unnecessary roughness in the second quarter of the Commanders game.
As the Lions prepare to face the Philadelphia Eagles on November 19th, the two teams are ranked closely in the NFL's Week 11 power rankings, with the Eagles at No. 4 and the Lions at No. 5. Detroit's head coach, Dan Campbell, has taken over offensive play-calling duties, and the team is looking to build on their most productive offensive showing of the season.
