A new Monday Night Football broadcast, MNF Playbook with Next Gen Stats, will debut next week, offering viewers an alternate telecast experience. This unique presentation will feature live coverage from the All-22 camera angle, providing a full view of the entire field, complemented by dynamic on-screen analytics.
ESPN collaborated with sports data analytics platform Adrenaline to develop the show. Leveraging an AI model trained on hundreds of thousands of NFL plays, the system generates real-time predictions for run-pass probabilities and blitz likelihoods. These insights will be visualized through augmented reality graphics embedded directly onto the field.
The program, scheduled for ESPN2 and the ESPN app on December 22nd and December 29th, will also feature commentary from former NFL players. Following these initial broadcasts, MNF Playbook will continue on the ESPN app for a Week 18 matchup and subsequent playoff games.
