Moe Wagner Joins Nets on 2-Year Deal

Moe Wagner has officially joined the Brooklyn Nets, agreeing to a two-year contract worth $19 million. The deal is fully guaranteed and features a mutual option for the second year, providing flexibility for both the player and the team. Wagner, previously with the Orlando Magic for six seasons, receives a significant salary increase.

Last season, the 29-year-old averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds over 36 games. His addition signals a busy start to free agency for the Nets, who also re-signed Day'Ron Sharpe and acquired Keon Ellis. Wagner's contract is comparable to Ellis', reinforcing Brooklyn's approach of securing rotation players on short-term agreements.

Wagner and Sharpe are now slated to share center duties for the upcoming season, following Brooklyn's trade of Nic Claxton. While Sharpe offers a physical presence, Wagner brings scoring, screening, passing, and floor-spacing abilities to the reserve big role. He can operate as a connector and create space within the offense, offering coach Jordi Fernández another versatile frontcourt option.

Following this signing, the Nets possess considerable positional versatility, though a crowded guard situation exists with several players on the roster. They have addressed wing depth and forward positions, with Sharpe and Wagner being the only traditional centers.
