Nebraska Volleyball Dominates Top-Ranked Foes, Breaks Viewership Records
29 Aug
Summary
- Nebraska beats Pitt and Stanford, two top 10 teams
- Nebraska's game against Pitt sets viewership record for regular-season volleyball
- Kentucky up next for Nebraska in another top 10 matchup

As of August 29th, 2025, the Nebraska women's volleyball team has made a strong statement in the early part of the season under new head coach Dani Busboom Kelly. The Cornhuskers entered this season with high expectations, and they have already proven that the hype was well-deserved.
At the AVCA First Serve event last month, Nebraska knocked off a pair of fellow top 10 ranked teams - Pitt and Stanford - with relative ease. The Huskers beat the Panthers in four sets, including a dominant 25-11 second set, and then swept Stanford with an overall score of 75-46. Both of these contests were sellouts, and Nebraska's game against Pitt on FOX shattered some viewership records, drawing an average audience of 771,000 people - the second-most watched regular-season volleyball game ever on the network, and the most ever for a volleyball contest that wasn't a lead-in to an NFL game.
This weekend, Nebraska faces another top 10 team - No. 7 Kentucky - in Nashville, Tennessee, in what will be another tough test for the Cornhuskers. After losing to Nebraska, Pitt has continued to struggle, suffering an upset loss to No. 16 Florida in five sets. The Panthers will face more ranked opponents in the coming weeks, including No. 25 TCU and No. 13 Arizona State.
