NBA Champion DeAndre Jordan Signs with Pelicans to Bolster Frontcourt

In a move to address their recent injury woes, the New Orleans Pelicans have signed veteran center DeAndre Jordan. The 17-year NBA veteran, who won a championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023, joins the Pelicans as they cope with the absence of Kevon Looney and Yves Missi.

Jordan, a 6-foot-11 center, played in 56 games with the Nuggets last season, averaging 3.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. The 37-year-old has a wealth of experience, having appeared in 1,111 career games with 791 starts. He was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the second round of the 2008 draft and has also played for Dallas, New York, Brooklyn, the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia, and Denver.

With Looney sidelined for two to three weeks due to a sprained left knee and Missi listed as day-to-day after twisting his right ankle, the Pelicans needed to bolster their frontcourt. Jordan's signing is expected to provide depth and experience to the team as they prepare for their home opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.
