Connor Zilisch, a 19-year-old American racing sensation, is opening his NASCAR Cup Series rookie season at the Daytona 500. Despite his burgeoning career, Zilisch continues to reside with his parents, a decision he attributes to the comfort and support it provides as he navigates the pressures of professional racing.

Zilisch's journey to the Cup Series has been remarkably swift. He transitioned from road course racing to oval tracks only in June 2022, yet quickly dominated NASCAR's second-tier O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, securing 11 wins and 23 top-five finishes in just 36 starts. His talent has drawn comparisons to transcendent athletes in other sports, with Trackhouse owner Justin Marks calling him a "generational talent" with the potential to become a "biggest star in NASCAR."

His early life was steeped in motorsports, beginning with go-karts at age 4. Despite family constraints, his passion led to international karting success, including a win against future F1 driver Kimi Antonelli in Italy in 2017. Financial realities ultimately steered him away from the F1 ladder, leading him back to the United States and eventually toward stock car racing through connections made in karting and Trans Am.
