Sponsor Woes Force NASCAR Driver Change at Watkins Glen
6 May
Summary
- Alex Guenette replaces Josh Williams due to sponsor issues.
- A new partner failed to meet contractual obligations.
- Williams' deal with DGM Racing remains intact for future seasons.

A sudden sponsorship issue has led to a driver change for DGM Racing ahead of the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Watkins Glen International. Alex Guenette is set to pilot the No. 92 Chevrolet, stepping in for Josh Williams. This decision, confirmed on May 5, 2026, stems from a new partner's failure to meet its contractual commitments.
While Williams' overall deal with DGM Racing is secure through 2027, this commercial disruption means he will not compete at Watkins Glen. He expressed understanding for the team's decision, highlighting the hard work of DGM Racing and the unfortunate circumstances. Williams, who is also expecting his second child around the race weekend, will still support the team at the track.
Guenette brings experience from the NASCAR Canada Series, including a win and numerous top finishes. He has also previously competed with DGM Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Team owner Mario Gosselin acknowledged the difficult situation, stating his personal care for Williams despite the business necessity.
