Snow Forces NASCAR Clash Schedule Change
30 Jan
Summary
- NASCAR exhibition race schedule altered due to anticipated snow and ice.
- The Clash event at Bowman Gray Stadium is now a one-day race on Sunday.
- Practice is planned for Sunday afternoon, with the main event at 6 p.m.

NASCAR has revised the schedule for its exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium this weekend, anticipating significant ice and snow accumulation. The event, originally planned over two days starting Saturday, will now take place solely on Sunday as a condensed, one-day affair. On-track activities scheduled for Saturday have been postponed.
Practice sessions are slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, with NASCAR aiming to hold the main 200-lap event at 6 p.m. The sanctioning body believes its Goodyear tires will provide adequate grip on the quarter-mile track, even in cold conditions. However, the feasibility of Sunday's race hinges on the amount of snow that falls on Saturday.
If Sunday's race cannot proceed, NASCAR is reportedly prepared to reschedule it for the next available clear day. Teams are expected to depart for Daytona Beach, Florida, around February 9th to prepare for the Daytona 500. The modified one-day format includes condensed practice sessions determining the starting lineup and a last-chance qualifier to fill the final spots in the main event.
