Summary
- Narela to host Delhi's largest integrated multi-sport stadium.
- Cricket stadium to seat 80,000, exceeding current capacity.
- Complex will include facilities for multiple Olympic sports.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is initiating the construction of Delhi's most extensive integrated multi-sport stadium complex in Narela. This ambitious project is designed to include an impressive 80,000-capacity cricket stadium, significantly larger than the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The planned complex will span 75 acres in Narela's G3 and G4 sectors. It is envisioned as a versatile venue capable of hosting major sporting events, concerts, and offering comprehensive training and recreational infrastructure for athletes across numerous disciplines.
Officials state the Narela location was chosen to divert traffic from central Delhi, reducing congestion during significant events. The complex will feature facilities for football, tennis, basketball, badminton, squash, and more, alongside indoor and outdoor training areas. It also includes support infrastructure like administrative spaces and extensive parking.
Development is expected to involve private sector participation through a long-term license. The DDA is inviting bids from experienced developers for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of this integrated sports hub. Timelines for construction will be finalized post-selection of a development partner.
