Summary
- Nagelsmann issues public warning to Sane about World Cup prospects
- Sane recently joined Galatasaray after leaving Bayern Munich
- Former Schalke coach Keller criticizes Nagelsmann's public comments

In the lead-up to Germany's upcoming World Cup qualifiers, national team manager Julian Nagelsmann has issued a public warning to Leroy Sane regarding his chances of making the squad. Sane, who recently joined Turkish champions Galatasaray as a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich, was a surprise inclusion in the Germany squad.
However, Nagelsmann has made it clear that Sane will need to prove himself if he wants to secure a spot on the World Cup team. "If we had six or seven players to choose from in that position, then it would be significantly more difficult for him," Nagelsmann said. "He knows that there aren't an unlimited number of opportunities to prove himself at the national team level."
The 38-year-old manager did acknowledge an improvement in Sane's performances over the past few months, both for Galatasaray in the Super Lig and the Champions League. "Profile-wise, he has everything we need in that position. That's why he has this opportunity now," Nagelsmann said.
Jens Keller, who managed Sane during his time at Schalke and handed him his professional debut, has criticized Nagelsmann's public comments. Keller believes such discussions should be reserved for private conversations between the player and the national team coach.
