MS Dhoni has been forced to miss the entirety of the IPL 2026 season due to multiple injuries, a significant absence for Chennai Super Kings fans. He initially suffered a calf strain before the season and more recently a thumb injury, which batting coach Michael Hussey confirmed would keep him out of the match against Gujarat Titans on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Beyond the injuries, reports have surfaced suggesting a significant rift between Dhoni and the CSK management. A source cited by Cricblogger indicated that Dhoni may part ways with the franchise after the IPL 2026 season, citing a deterioration in their relationship. This alleged discord is reportedly linked to Dhoni's unhappiness with pre-season trades, particularly the deal involving Ravindra Jadeja.
