17 May
Summary
- Alvaro Arbeloa's tenure as Real Madrid manager is ending soon.
- Jose Mourinho is reportedly close to agreeing a second spell.
- Real Madrid failed to win any major trophy this season.
Alvaro Arbeloa's leadership at Real Madrid is nearing its conclusion, with reports indicating Jose Mourinho is close to taking the helm for a second time.
Arbeloa, who stepped in following Xabi Alonso's departure in January, has faced a challenging period. The team's La Liga title aspirations fell short, and they were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.
This marks the second consecutive season without a major trophy for Real Madrid. The team also experienced internal friction, including a training-ground dispute between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, and fan discontent directed at Kylian Mbappe.
Mourinho's potential return offers a new direction for the 15-time European champions.
