Montana State Wins FCS Title in OT Thriller!

Montana State has captured its first national championship since 1984, defeating Illinois State 35-34 in an exhilarating overtime Football Championship Subdivision title game. The Bobcats secured the victory with a successful extra point kick, ending a long championship drought.

This thrilling win marks a significant achievement for Montana State, who have now reached the championship game for the second consecutive season and the third time in five years under Coach Brent Vigen. The team overcame a halftime deficit and crucial fourth-quarter moments to force overtime, ultimately clinching their long-awaited title.

Illinois State, despite making history as the first FCS team to win four straight road playoff games, ultimately fell short in their first championship appearance since 2014. The game featured strong offensive performances from both teams, with key defensive plays and resilient efforts shaping the outcome.
