13 Mar
Summary
- Duplantis broke his 15th world record, clearing 6.31 meters.
- This victory marks his 38th consecutive pole vault win.
- He has improved his record by 1 centimeter each time since 2020.
Swedish pole vaulter Armand "Mondo" Duplantis achieved his 15th world record on Thursday, clearing an astonishing 6.31 meters (20 feet, 8¼ inches) at an indoor meet in Uppsala, Sweden. This latest feat occurred at the meet named in his honor, the Mondo Classic.
Duplantis's remarkable performance extends his winning streak to an incredible 38 consecutive pole vault victories, a run that began in August 2023. Since first breaking the record in 2020, he has consistently elevated his mark by one centimeter each time he has surpassed it.
His record-breaking spree places him in elite company, though he has not yet matched Sergey Bubka's record number of record breaks across indoor and outdoor events. Track and field's governing body now combines indoor and outdoor records into a single mark. Duplantis is slated to compete next week at world indoors in Poland, aiming for his fourth title in that event.
