Pakistan Cricketer Nawaz Suspended for Doping

Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Nawaz received a three-month ban for breaching the ICC Anti-Doping Code. The violation occurred after a T20 World Cup fixture against the Netherlands on February 7, where he tested positive for Carboxy-THC, classified as a Substance of Abuse. Nawaz admitted the violation, stating it was unrelated to enhancing sporting performance.

His period of ineligibility, backdated to May 1, has effectively been served. Nawaz voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension, and his proactive engagement in an ICC-approved treatment program led to a reduction in the ban's effective duration. He has already spent two and a half months under provisional suspension, and subject to successfully completing the treatment, he will not serve further time.

Individual records from the February 7 match and subsequent games until May 1 have been disqualified. Nawaz's situation highlights the ICC's commitment to anti-doping regulations while considering circumstances of abuse.
