Colorado Buffaloes are set to feature a formidable defense bolstered by the transfer of safety Naeten Mitchell and linebacker Tyler Martinez from New Mexico State. The duo, who led the Aggies in tackles for the past two seasons with 93 and 94 respectively, arrived in Boulder this offseason aiming to prove their capabilities at the Power Four level.
Mitchell and Martinez embrace the challenge of the Big 12, viewing their Conference-USA background as motivation. They are focused on demonstrating their playmaking ability and leadership within Deion Sanders' defense. Their established on-field connection aids in executing complex defensive schemes, particularly in mastering non-verbal communication critical for loud environments.
Both players are expected to play significant roles as the Buffaloes prepare for their Week 1 matchup against Georgia Tech. Mitchell has rotated between nickel and safety, while Martinez competes at mike linebacker. Their early integration and communication skills will be vital for the Buffaloes' success against Georgia Tech's offensive scheme.
