A Jordanian athlete, Rabe'e Ata Juma'a Alqaq, aged 24, has been reported missing from the Rice University campus in Houston. Alqaq had arrived on Saturday to participate in the Genuine Cup, an international soccer tournament for intellectually disabled athletes from over 53 countries.
He was last seen by his dormmates around midnight on Sunday, stating he intended to take a walk. Alqaq failed to appear for breakfast and has not been seen since. Rice University Police Department noted that his room still contained personal items, raising concerns.
Investigators confirmed Alqaq does not speak English and is unfamiliar with the local area. Campus surveillance footage captured him near an exit, initially appearing to leave, but he later turned back. Authorities are actively searching for him and have urged anyone with information to contact the Rice University Police Department.
