Wild Acquire Heavy-Hitting Center McCarron

The Minnesota Wild have acquired 6-foot-6 center Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2028 second-round pick. This acquisition signals the Wild's intent to reshape their fourth line and add a physically imposing presence to their roster. McCarron, who turns 31 this Friday, is in the final year of his contract with a $900,000 average annual value.

McCarron is recognized for his heavy game and edge, notably leading the Predators with 165 hits this season. He also demonstrates proficiency in faceoffs, winning 53.8 percent over the past five seasons, and is a valuable penalty killer. With Marcus Foligno sidelined with a lower-body injury, McCarron is poised to fill a crucial physical role alongside league hits leader Yakov Trenin. McCarron has recorded five goals and 12 points this season while averaging a career-high 14:30 of ice time per game. This move comes one day after the Wild added Robby Fabbri off waivers.
