Russell, a 17-year-old phenom, will be joined by six other talented golfers from the area at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The championship commences with 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying on July 20-21. From a field of 312 participants, the top 64 players will advance to the match-play portion of the tournament, beginning on July 22.
This year's U.S. Junior Amateur marks a significant moment for local golf. Russell, who reached the quarterfinals last year, has had a stellar summer, including qualifying for the U.S. Open and being named to the U.S. Walker Cup team. Other notable competitors from the First Coast include Tyler Mawhinney and Easton Oliva, who were exempt from qualifying. Four additional players—James Nagle, Phillip Dunham, Jay Huntley, and Charlie Hipp—earned their spots through rigorous qualifying rounds.
