As of November 12th, 2025, Michigan State University has extended an offer to Kaylon Bailey, a promising 2027 EDGE rusher prospect. The 6'1", 225-pound player from Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio, has now received his sixth Division I offer, with the Spartans joining the mix.
MSU's head coach, Jonathan Smith, has made it clear that defense is a top priority in the upcoming recruiting classes. This comes as no surprise, given the Spartans' recent struggles on that side of the ball. By offering Bailey early, the team hopes to gain an advantage in his recruitment.
During Michigan State's bye week, safeties coach James Adams traveled to Ohio to see Bailey in action. Adams was immediately impressed with what he saw and decided to extend the offer. This personal visit from the coach demonstrates the importance the Spartans place on Bailey and their desire to secure his commitment.
Currently, MSU is competing with several other programs, including Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, Bowling Green, and Eastern Michigan, for Bailey's services. The EDGE rusher position has been a focus for the Spartans in their 2026 recruiting class, and it seems that trend will continue into 2027 as well.
