Michigan State football recently hosted Canadian defensive tackle Franklin Ibelo for an official visit. Ibelo spent the past four years playing for the University of Calgary, appearing in 26 games and recording 27 tackles.
Ibelo's notable size, listed at 6'7" and 340 pounds, makes him a unique prospect. His measurements would place him among the tallest and heaviest players on the Spartans' roster.
This visit marks a potential belated transfer portal addition for MSU. The team previously added receiver Jameel Gardner Jr. in April. Ibelo's recruitment is comparable to the acquisition of Canadian Devynn Cromwell last offseason.
While not projected to be a starter, Ibelo could provide valuable depth to the defensive line. Such depth is crucial for covering injuries, as seen in previous seasons when key players missed games.
