Injury-Sidelined Guard Enters Transfer Portal

Michigan guard LJ Cason has announced his departure from the program via the transfer portal. Cason is the first Wolverines player to leave following the coaching transition, with all other scholarship players opting to remain. Michigan players have a 15-day transfer window that commenced on July 15 due to the recent coaching change. Before a February ACL tear against Illinois, Cason was enjoying a breakout season. He posted averages of 8.4 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game. His field goal percentage was 50.3%, and he shot 40.2% from three-point range. Cason underwent surgery after the season and is projected to miss a significant part of the 2026-27 basketball season during his recovery.
