Michigan's football program has significantly bolstered its defensive line with the addition of John Henry Daley from the transfer portal. Daley, a standout pass rusher, committed to Michigan in January, reuniting with his former Utah coach, Kyle Whittingham, who now leads the Wolverines. Daley's journey includes a promising start at BYU, followed by a breakout 2025 season at Utah where he recorded 48 tackles, 17.5 for loss, and 11.5 sacks. His impressive performance was unfortunately cut short in late November 2025 due to an Achilles rupture.
Despite the setback, Daley has reportedly made a full recovery and is in excellent physical condition. Coach Whittingham praised Daley's relentless motor and physical pass-rushing ability, noting he was on pace to lead the nation in sacks before his injury. PFF recognizes Daley as the highest-graded returning edge rusher. With a strong season at Michigan, he is projected to be a first or second-round NFL draft selection.
