Miami Claims Top Spot in CFB Rankings
4 Nov
Summary
- Undefeated Miami Hurricanes debut at No. 1 in College Football Playoff rankings.
- Notre Dame, ranked fourth in AP poll, falls to No. 11 in CFP rankings.
- Miami beat Notre Dame earlier this season, setting up a pivotal rematch Saturday.
The Miami Hurricanes, holding an undefeated record, have been placed at the premier position in the initial College Football Playoff rankings released on Tuesday, November 4, 2026. This ranking aligns with their top standing in the AP Top 25 poll.
However, a notable divergence emerged between the AP poll and the committee's selections further down the rankings. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, currently fourth in the AP Top 25, were positioned at No. 11 by the committee. This contrasts with their perceived standing.
The Hurricanes previously defeated the Fighting Irish in Week 1 of the season. Their upcoming matchup on Saturday night is now framed as exceptionally critical for both teams' playoff aspirations, especially given their differing rankings.
