His absence followed a mid-August arrest related to charges of aggressively fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer and reckless driving. The most serious felony charge was dismissed earlier this month, but Lyle is still being prosecuted for reckless driving and six additional traffic violations.
During the July 10 incident, Lyle was observed driving at speeds significantly exceeding the posted limit, reaching an estimated 130 mph while evading a traffic stop in Broward County. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for October 5. Coach Mario Cristobal has stated the team will allow the legal process to conclude.
Lyle, a junior, has contributed 508 rushing yards and five touchdowns over his previous two seasons with the Hurricanes. Despite a strong freshman year, he faced challenges in his sophomore season. Miami boasts considerable depth at the running back position, featuring Mark Fletcher Jr. and other key contributors.
