Heat's Roster Moves Tied to Klay Thompson Chase

However, their primary target, Klay Thompson, remains under contract with the Dallas Mavericks. This strategic move complicates negotiations with other free agents like DeMar DeRozan and Bradley Beal, who are also seeking significant contracts.

DeMar DeRozan, a six-time All-Star, has expressed interest in Miami but is also fielding offers from teams with midlevel exception money, making a veteran minimum offer less appealing. Bradley Beal, after declining his player option, is also in a position where a veteran minimum deal is unlikely unless his market fails to materialize, especially considering he's recouping significant money from a past contract buyout.
