The New York Mets have secured a significant addition to their roster, agreeing to a trade for center fielder Luis Robert Jr. from the Chicago White Sox. This move, confirmed on Tuesday night, significantly bolsters the Mets' outfield.
In return for Robert Jr., the White Sox will receive infielder Luisangel Acuna and right-handed pitcher Truman Pauley. Acuna, 23, previously played 95 games for the Mets, batting .234 with 16 stolen bases. Pauley, 22, was a recent draft selection for the Mets.
Robert Jr., 28, brings considerable talent despite a dip in batting average last season to .223. He still managed 14 home runs and a career-best 33 stolen bases. In 2023, he was an All-Star, showcasing his power with 38 home runs and 80 RBIs, and also earned a Gold Glove in 2020.
