Mets Rookie Dominates Brewers in Shutout Victory

The Mets secured a 4-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night, largely thanks to a dominant pitching performance from rookie Zac Thornton. The 24-year-old left-hander earned his first career win by throwing six shutout innings, surrendering just three hits and one walk while striking out two.

Thornton, who has a 1.93 ERA over his first four big-league starts, extended his scoreless innings streak to 18, the longest for a Mets rookie since 2016. The Mets' offense provided early support when Jared Young hit his seventh homer of the season in the second inning. The team extended their lead in the fifth inning after Brandon Sproat was removed from the game, with a two-run double from Carson Benge making it 3-0.

Luis Robert Jr. added an insurance run in the eighth inning with a 451-foot home run, his third of the season. The bullpen, including Luke Weaver, Brooks Raley, and Devin Williams, closed out the victory. A.J. Ewing contributed with a hit, a walk, and an 11th stolen base, alongside strong defensive plays.
