Mets Owner Backs Stearns Despite Poor Performance

Despite the Mets currently holding last place in the National League East with a 36-50 record, Cohen expressed his conviction in Stearns' leadership.

Cohen reflected on the team's mixed record, referencing their near National League Championship Series appearance just two years prior. He stressed the importance of stability in management, warning against a pattern of "burn and churn" which could deter future talent. The owner also noted that Stearns, who joined the club in October 2023, has a five-year contract that they intend to honor. Recent personnel decisions under Stearns' watch, including the trade of Pete Alonso for Jorge Polanco and other offseason acquisitions, have yet to yield the desired results.
