Sooner Effect: Softball Tickets Skyrocket for Top Matchups
27 Jan
Summary
- Memphis softball introduces tiered ticketing for the 2026 season.
- Games against Oklahoma and Ole Miss will have significantly higher prices.
- Oklahoma games are priced at $30 in advance, $40 at the gate.

The University of Memphis softball program is set to become the sixth ticketed sport for its upcoming 2026 season. This change introduces a tiered pricing structure for fans attending games at the Tigers Softball Complex. Standard regular season home games will feature general admission tickets at $7 and standing room only at $5, with increased prices at the gate.
However, when top-ranked teams such as the Oklahoma Sooners and Ole Miss Rebels visit, ticket prices will surge significantly. Matches against Oklahoma on March 18 are slated for $30 in advance and $40 at the gate. Similarly, the March 31 game against Ole Miss will cost $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. These high-demand games will initially be accessible only to Memphis Athletic Fund members, though University of Memphis students will receive free admission.
This strategy reflects the considerable drawing power of elite programs like the Oklahoma Sooners, who continue to attract large crowds and drive revenue for host teams. This trend is not unique to Memphis, as other programs have also implemented creative ticketing strategies and secured agreements for hotel accommodations or complimentary tickets when hosting the Sooners.
