5 Dec
Summary
- McLaren may use Piastri to help Norris secure championship.
- Norris leads Piastri by 16 points before final race.
- Team will intervene if only one driver can win title.

McLaren is prepared to implement team orders in the final race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, to aid Lando Norris in his championship bid. This strategic decision will be enacted if it becomes clear that only one of their drivers can secure the title.
Currently, Norris holds a 16-point lead over his teammate Piastri. The team has maintained a philosophy of open competition throughout the season, but this may change in the critical final race to maximize their chances of winning the drivers' championship.
Team principal Brown stated that while open racing will continue as long as both drivers have a chance, the team will intervene if necessary to ensure a McLaren driver wins the championship, prioritizing the overall team success.
