Summary
- Oli McBurnie secured Hull City's Premier League return.
- He scored the winning goal in the 95th minute at Wembley.
- This achievement came just days after his Scotland World Cup exclusion.
Just four days after learning he would not represent Scotland at the World Cup, Oli McBurnie delivered a moment of triumph for Hull City. At the 95th minute of the Wembley final, the striker netted his 19th goal of the season, securing Hull's promotion back to the Premier League and leaving Middlesbrough crestfallen.
McBurnie's wild celebration on the pitch masked any lingering disappointment from his international snub. Scotland's subsequent World Cup campaign saw them exit at the group stage. Meanwhile, McBurnie has demonstrated his readiness for England's top flight, impressing in Hull's recent win over Manchester United.
With a new manager now at the helm for Scotland, questions arise about whether McBurnie's continued strong performances will earn him a place in the upcoming Nations League squad.
