Four-time world champion Max Verstappen is participating in a distinctive go-karting event at Silverstone, known as Max vs 100. He will attempt to pass all 100 competing drivers over the course of 30 laps in a unique challenge outside of his Formula 1 career.
The event will be streamed live globally on ESPN on Disney+, with the race commencing at 6 p.m., preceded by a one-hour build-up show. In the United States, it will also be available on the ESPN App for Unlimited subscribers, followed by a delayed broadcast on ESPN2.
The 100 competitors represent a varied group, including athletes, content creators, streamers, and other personalities from across the globe. Every kart utilized in the race is identical, and a regulation weight of 85kg, including the driver and kit, will be enforced, with ballast added as necessary to ensure parity.
Notable participants include streamers Pieface, Caedrel, and TheDonato, ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball phenomenon Chris "Lethal Shooter" Matthews, and 2019 Love Island winner Amber Gill. Verstappen expressed that while 100 opponents is a significant number, the track setup appears promising for an exciting race.
Verstappen indicated he would assess the skill level of other drivers before forming a strategy, preferring to "go with the flow." He voiced a hope that his racing background would give him an advantage, humorously noting it would be "embarrassing" if others proved faster. The Max vs 100 event is scheduled for September 16.
