Padres pitcher Matsui is continuing his throwing program off flat ground as he recovers from a recent groin injury. Before his tenure with the Padres, Matsui enjoyed a successful 10-year career in Nippon Professional Baseball. During this time, he achieved a 2.40 ERA, recorded 236 saves, and maintained a 1.11 WHIP. He was recognized as the youngest pitcher in the Japanese major leagues to reach 200 saves and was a five-time All-Star.
