Indiana men's basketball is preparing to welcome its first official visitor of the 2026 transfer portal season. Junior guard Markus Burton from Notre Dame is scheduled to visit the program in Bloomington starting this weekend, following a visit to Houston.
Burton spent three seasons with the Fighting Irish, playing only ten games in 2025-26 due to a left ankle injury sustained in December. Before his injury, he was a key player, averaging 18.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. He also demonstrated solid shooting efficiency, with a 48.9% field goal percentage and 30.6% from three-point range.
Originally from Mishawaka, Indiana, Burton was a standout in high school, earning the state's Mr. Basketball award in 2023. His potential addition to the Indiana team under coach Darian DeVries would mark a significant recruitment, as he would be the first former Mr. Basketball winner to play for the Hoosiers since Anthony Leal's final season in 2024-25.
