Rashford's Man Utd Return: No Squad Number?

Marcus Rashford is scheduled to return for Manchester United training this summer, but he faces an immediate challenge as he currently does not possess a squad number. The England international, whose last appearance for United was in December 2024, spent time on loan at Aston Villa and Barcelona. During his spell at Barcelona, he contributed significantly, helping them win La Liga. However, the Catalan club opted not to activate his purchase option, and a release clause for other clubs has also expired.

Upon his return, Rashford must address the vacant squad number issue. The prestigious number 10 shirt, which he proudly wore since 2018, has been taken by Matheus Cunha. Rashford initially wore number 39 upon his breakthrough in the 2015/16 season, later switching to 19 before receiving the iconic number 10. During his loan spells, he wore number nine for Aston Villa and number 14 for Barcelona. Both numbers nine and 14 are currently available at Manchester United, along with other potential options like 20, 21, and 24 within the top 25 squad positions.
