Summary
- Marquez exited the race with a flat rear tyre, an outcome he deemed bad luck.
- He experienced the tyre failure after hitting a 'big rock' on a kerb.
- Marquez was running fourth and aimed for a podium finish before the incident.

Marc Marquez has attributed his retirement from the Thai Grand Prix to sheer bad luck, stating that a flat rear tyre abruptly ended his race. The incident occurred when Marquez, attempting a cautious approach after feeling his rear tyre slide, jumped a kerb. He reported hitting a "big rock" on the kerb, which caused the tyre to explode. Marquez stated that this kerb had been crossed numerous times during testing and practice without issue.
At the time of the tyre failure, Marquez was running in fourth position and felt a podium finish was within reach, with aspirations of even higher placements. The nine-time world champion is still recovering from injuries sustained in last year's Indonesian Grand Prix. His decision to take a safe route off-track proved to be an unfortunate miscalculation, as it led directly to the terminal tyre damage.
