Manchester United Close in on €85M Deal for RB Leipzig's Sesko

As of August 6th, 2025, Manchester United are closing in on completing a deal for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old Slovenian forward has decided to join the Red Devils, despite Newcastle United making a better offer.

According to reports, Manchester United made an initial offer of €75 million plus €10 million in add-ons for Sesko earlier this week. However, Newcastle had submitted a higher bid valued at €82.5 million plus €2.5 million in add-ons. Despite the Magpies' superior offer, Sesko has chosen to move to Old Trafford.

Sesko is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football. Last season, he scored 21 goals and provided 6 assists across all competitions. His imminent arrival at Manchester United is expected to bolster their attacking options, as the club looks to improve on their disappointing 15th-place finish in the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Sesko is set to replace Rasmus Hojlund as Manchester United's first-choice striker. The Danish forward has struggled to impress since his reported €83 million move from Atalanta, managing just 26 goals in 95 games for the club. Sesko's signing will take United's spending on attack to over €200 million this season, with the club also bringing in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

This update comes as a significant blow to Newcastle United, who have had a frustrating transfer window. Several of their top targets, including Mbeumo, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike, and James Trafford, have opted to join other teams, while star striker Alexander Isak is also looking to leave.
