Summary
- Nation's No. 1 prospect Lamar Brown delayed his LSU signing.
- Decision hinges on new coach Lane Kiffin's coaching staff.
- LSU signed nine commits, ranked No. 14 in ESPN's 2026 class.

The commitment of the nation's top high school football prospect, Lamar Brown, to LSU is now up in the air. Brown, a five-star defensive tackle, delayed his signing during the early period, indicating he wants to see how new coach Lane Kiffin shapes his coaching staff before making a final decision. Sources suggest ongoing discussions with LSU staff have not yet provided a resolution, leaving the timeline for his commitment uncertain.
The uncertainty surrounding Brown's decision cast a shadow over LSU's early signing day. The Tigers secured commitments from nine players, positioning them at No. 14 in ESPN's 2026 class rankings. This group includes wide receiver Brayden Allen, tight end J.C. Anderson, and center Ryan Miret, along with four-star pass-catcher Corey Barber. Top 100 offensive tackle Brysten Martinez also reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers.
However, Brown was not the only significant LSU commit to postpone signing. Cornerback Havon Finney Jr. and safety Aiden Hall were formally signed, but four other ESPN 300 commits, including defensive tackle Deuce Geralds, also delayed their decisions. Geralds stated he needed more time to get acquainted with the new coaching staff, a sentiment echoed by the uncertainty surrounding key assistants like defensive coordinator Blake Baker.
