Kiffin's LSU QB Van Buren Enters Transfer Portal
4 Jan
Summary
- LSU QB Michael Van Buren is entering the transfer portal.
- Van Buren's departure adds to the Tigers' roster attrition.
- Coach Lane Kiffin is pursuing QB Brendan Sorsby.
New LSU head coach Lane Kiffin faces mounting roster challenges as quarterback Michael Van Buren has announced his entry into the transfer portal. This decision follows a career that saw Van Buren accumulate 2,896 passing yards and 19 touchdowns. His departure adds to the list of scholarship players leaving Baton Rouge.
The Tigers' backfield has also been depleted, with running back Caden Durham entering the portal. Durham, an All-SEC Freshman honoree, amassed 1,609 scrimmage yards over two seasons, leaving the team with limited depth at the position.
Kiffin is now embroiled in a high-stakes recruitment battle for former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby, who recorded 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns last season, is considering LSU and Texas Tech, with NIL deals and personal connections influencing his decision.
