The Long Beach Coast professional baseball team is set to play its first home game tonight at Blair Field. This marks a significant moment for the newest addition to the Pioneer Baseball League, a league partnered with MLB. The team boasts a strong leadership, with former MLB player Troy Percival managing and former big leaguers Troy Glaus and Jerome Williams on staff.
Percival, who pitched for 14 seasons and appeared in the 2002 World Series, emphasized the team's commitment to an aggressive, "hard-nose" style of play. The team is fresh off a successful 9-3 inaugural road trip and will begin a 12-game homestand tonight. Beyond the diamond action, the Long Beach Coast has a unique alter ego, the Regulators, with rap icon Warren G as a part-owner. This duality reflects Long Beach's vibrant culture and swagger, with the Regulators' legacy being an integral part of the city's identity.
