24 Apr
Summary
- Record 1.13 million entries for this year's ballot.
- 2027 ballot opens April 24, closes May 1.
- Potential for a two-day event in April 2027.

The ballot for the 2027 London Marathon will open on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 8am BST. This follows an unprecedented 1,133,813 entries for the current year's race, a new world record. The application window will remain open for one week, closing on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 4pm BST. Results are scheduled to be announced in early July 2026.
Organizers are considering a unique two-day event for 2027, potentially taking place on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25. If approved, participants entering the ballot will automatically be considered for both days, substantially enhancing their prospects of securing a spot. The standard entry fee for UK participants is £79.99, with an option to donate this fee to the London Marathon Foundation during the application process.
For those unsuccessful in the main ballot, a second, random ballot will offer another chance. Entrants not securing a place in either ballot will receive a complimentary hydration vest valued at over £100. Alternative entry methods include applying for charity places, which can be managed even if a ballot place is secured later.
The 2027 London Marathon is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, April 25, 2027, with the potential addition of a Saturday event. Live coverage in the UK will be broadcast by the BBC, with online streaming available via BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website.
