Logan Allen, once a highly-ranked prospect for the San Diego Padres, has been signed to a minor league contract by the Los Angeles Dodgers. This move comes after Allen's participation with Team Canada in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, where his performance caught the attention of the Dodgers organization.
Allen, 28, will begin his stint with the Dodgers at their Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City. His career path has been varied, including being part of the Padres organization from late 2015 to mid-2019, during which he was traded twice. He was initially acquired by the Padres in the 2015 trade that sent Craig Kimbrel to the Boston Red Sox.
During his time with the Padres, Allen was considered a top prospect, ranking as high as No. 8 in 2018. He made his MLB debut in 2019 with the Padres, appearing in eight games with a 6.75 ERA. He was later traded to Cleveland as part of the deal that brought Trevor Bauer to the Cincinnati Reds.
Allen has since been associated with several other MLB organizations, including the Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners, and Arizona Diamondbacks. He also played in the Korea Baseball Organization and most recently with Toros de Tijuana in the Mexican League before the WBC. The Dodgers now offer him a new opportunity to potentially reach the majors.
