O'Hara Slams Gakpo: 'Average' Liverpool Star Not Good Enough
4 Mar
Summary
- Jamie O'Hara believes Cody Gakpo is an average Premier League player.
- Gakpo has scored eight goals in 37 appearances this season.
- O'Hara contrasts Gakpo's play with the departed Luis Diaz.
Jamie O'Hara has publicly criticized Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, stating the player is "not good enough" for the upper echelons of the Premier League. O'Hara believes Gakpo is merely an "average player" and a significant step down from the quality previously offered by Luis Diaz.
Gakpo's performances this season have drawn scrutiny, with the Dutch international scoring eight goals in 37 appearances. He notably endured a difficult match in Liverpool's recent 2-1 loss to Wolves. Despite occasional goal contributions, such as one against West Ham last weekend, his overall output and predictability have been points of concern for pundits and fans alike.
While Gakpo has faced criticism, he has also shown flashes of his potential, including a goal in a recent victory. Teammates, like Andy Robertson, have publicly supported him. As Liverpool heads towards the end of the season, Gakpo remains an important figure in their attacking lineup, with the club hoping he can regain his top form.
