Police initiated the stop for erratic driving, subsequently discovering marijuana and a vape pen containing synthetic cannabinoid oil in her vehicle. During the encounter, officers read Morgan's journal, finding her personal aspirations humorous, and took photographs with her while she was in handcuffs.

Initially facing a felony charge for the vape pen's contents, the case was eventually dismissed as laboratory tests could not definitively prove the substance was synthetic. Morgan ultimately pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession and paid a fine, expressing embarrassment but stating those days are behind her.
